"An hour appointment with Amy and Brooke, is an hour appointment with Amy and Brooke. You are not getting shuffled through the deck and spending only a few minutes with the people you came to see. I would walk in and actually spend a whole hour with them. It was really nice. I could ask every single question I had, and even have time for more. I needed that reassurance as a first time mom, and I didn’t get that reassurance during my time with the doctor. His response was always ‘you are going to be fine, you are going to be fine’, but with Amy and Brooke their response would be more like, I can understand why you have concerns about that, so let’s talk about it and understand it more… It was just so much more comfortable."
"At the very first appointment, my experience was so much different; they listened to me, they answered my questions. I could tell they actually cared about me and they cared about how I felt. I could tell they were willing to do a lot of work on the front end so that they had a happy mom and a happy baby after the fact."
"Once we got pregnant it took us a while to choose Trillium because we wanted to be very careful. We are big on how things feel, we are big on energy, and for somebody to be an integral part of this journey, and we needed to be sure we were making the right choice. So we met with Amy and Brooke. Amy seemed very confident, not cocky, but very confident, and you could tell she was very experienced and knows what she’s doing. I think that’s what really made us feel comfortable, because just of what she puts out, her background, her history, and just how open she is. Any questions we have she is able to answer. So yea, we chose her because she made us feel good and her energy is really cool. So that’s it; I mean we did our research and looked around but we ended up coming back to Trillium."
"I really liked the amount of focus that we got from everyone that worked with us, and I also really appreciated the fact they gave us so much advice for vegetarian and vegan dietary styles for a healthy pregnancy and natural remedies for any issues she had while pregnant."
"When I found out I was pregnant for the second time, I had heard of Trillium from the school my daughter attends and so I just looked them up, and when I met with Brooke and Amy I was like yep! You guys are the right people! I could just feel it. What I liked about them, obviously they seem very competent, but I liked that they were so calm… I could tell it was going to be a no-drama experience and I really liked that."
"I chose Trillium because I felt their combination of knowledge and intuition was spot on, so there was never a doubt in me that should anything go awry they would not have complete control or would miss anything. I didn’t think anything would happen because I just trusted they could handle every aspect of it. I know Amy personally, and like her demeanor and personality. She highly respects that the woman is the one doing all of the work, so when families thank her she just jokes and says: “I am not the one that did the great job, I just caught the baby!”. She’s always and completely about letting the birth happen naturally the way it was intended and she is there to protect that process and to nurture it and to ensure that it happens safely and successfully, uninterrupted and unimpeded. Having a child at home for me, was something that was so unbelievably powerful and spiritual and affirming and reassuring as a woman; and I get to own that for the rest of my life, and I really value that."
"I would highly recommend Amy and Brooke; they were amazing. They arrived when they said they would, they were very calm, they did not treat it like it was something to be nervous about. They worked as a team. They did all the necessary things, but in a way that didn’t carry with it all the official baggage that you normally get."
"Amy’s style was just a good fit for me, she helped talk me through my fear of having a long birth and she was just so willing to listen, and her appointments were as long or as short as I wanted them to be. Even after birth, during those first sort of complicated weeks of breastfeeding, she pointed me in the right direction for questions. She was also good about helping us when we were doing some international travel shortly after one of them was born; she was good about helping navigate the paperwork for the passport and get it straightened out as soon as possible… I can’t speak highly enough about her. She’s great; I would highly recommend her for anyone."
"The initial conversation I had with Trillium, the way they articulated themselves in support of my birth plan and me being in control of my birth plan, was so practical, and so matter of fact, that it just affirmed my feelings and sentiment about their character- it really empowered my decision."
"By choosing Trillium WomanCare, it was not so much that I was seeking this really warm or sentimental home birth, but it was just that I was kind of running away from doctors and my experiences with them. I called Trillium because I had known a couple of people who used them, and just sitting with them was comforting. We would just sit and talk, and they would listen, and they never told me I was crazy. They never told me I was wrong. If Amy didn't agree with me or if she wanted me to do a test or something, she would just explain it, and it was just this feeling that we were a team, it was so much better and it made my husband so involved. He *loved* going to the appointments, I mean he just looked forward to them like crazy! So yeah, it wasn’t so much that I was focused on the birth experience, but I just wanted somebody that would listen to me and would trust that I wasn’t crazy. To have people that would sit down with you and talk at every appointment, each one was like an hour, they would talk to me about every single symptom that I had and they would explain it and they would tell me why things were happening…. I’d never had that experience with a mainstream doctor before."
"What made us know we made the right choice was that we just felt comfortable. Amy is very knowledgeable, and as a nurse I knew exactly the kind of questions I needed to ask, and I know they [CPMs/Certified Professional Midwives] are certified and licensed, but that alone doesn’t mean that everybody will be a good fit for you, you have to do your homework. With Amy, after finding out about her online and sitting down with her, we just kind of clicked and knew she was the right choice."
