Deanna Shelton, Registered Nurse - Birth Assistant
I recieved a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Memphis in 2000. Since that time I have worked as a nurse in several area Emergency Departments and in the ICU.
I am very lucky to have also had the opportunity to assist several area midwives in homebirths. I completed the Level One Midwife Apprentice Workshop at The Farm in 2001. This opportunity helped me to begin my quest for helping women in achieving the experiences they want during pregnancy and birth. I believe in a woman's ability to make informed choices about her birth options. I believe that women instinctively know how their bodies work.
Birth is a time when a woman inherently wants to be in control but also loved and nurtured. I hope that my presence will help women with these experiences and help them to have the best outcome for themselves and their families.
I have lived in Memphis for most of my life. I am a single mom with a beautiful daughter. I am officially a "soccer mom" and spend lots of time with McKenzie. We also enjoy traveling and reading books. I feel truly honored to be able to provide a good life for my daughter while still pursuing my own dreams and goals.
